In 13, Portland Sinks Bowie, 3-2
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Prince George's Stadium. Fortunately for the Portland Sea Dogs, though, Jason Mosley was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 3 walks, to lead his team past the Bowie Baysox, 3-2. Portland pitcher Alex Hall got the win, upping his record to 3-0. Dave Escobar got the loss. The win makes Portland 58-69.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Nick Cook? The 23-year old second baseman Cook stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put Portland up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Dennis Owens, the Portland skipper. "This one tested us."
