Mets Knock Off Fisher Cats at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium
|
Northeast Delta Dental Stadium hosted a real pitchers' duel.
In a low-scoring contest between the Binghamton Mets and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Billy Galindo proved to be the difference. The Binghamton right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Mets win. Alberto Chavez sewed up the save, his 18th.
It could have been a different outcome for Binghamton, had it not been for Alex Melendez, the 24-year old right fielder . Melendez contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Binghamton up, 1-0.
Said New Hampshire manager Quinn Autrey: "They pitched the heck out of us."
Binghamton, at 65-63, occupies second place in the Northern Division.
