Getting offensive support from Chris Buckingham, the Altoona Curve topped the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 4-3. Buckingham was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Curve. Altoona pitcher Steve Sommer got the win. He's now 1-0. Ben Schaffer was tagged with the loss. At 67-59, the Curve find themselves in third place in the Southern Division.

Altoona used a timely hit from Bobby Evans to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Curve ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

Evans told the Altoona News: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
