Hartford pitcher Tom Valko had a large part in his team beating the Binghamton Mets, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Yard Goats lead the Northern Division by 7 games.

Bob Orosco, who is tied for 8th in the EL in runs scored with 56, had a direct impact on the outcome. Orosco contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Hartford up, 4-2.
