Flying Squirrels Pick Up 2-0 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Binghamton Mets, Matt Moore was the X factor. The Richmond left-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. Moore, now 7-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Tony Flores recorded the save, his 14th.
Justin Rowell had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Richmond. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Richmond in front, 2-0.
Said losing manager Matt Young: "We've got to find a way to push a run across."
The win puts the Flying Squirrels at 65-64, while the Mets drop to 80-49.
