Curve Snatch 1-0 Win
|
The Reading Fightin Phils got a superb performance from pitcher Larry Northcutt. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Altoona. The Curve won the game, 1-0. Northcutt threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. By defeating Reading, the third-place Curve improved to 69-59.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Curve had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Dante Tapia hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Larry Northcutt and made the score 1-0, Curve. Tapia was 1 for 3.
Tapia said his team "played with determination."
