Erie Loses, 6-3, in 11
|
Thanks in large part to center fielder Nick Sweet, the Reading Fightin Phils clipped the Erie SeaWolves, 6-3, in 11 innings. Sweet went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The Fightin Phils improved to 52-78.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With no one out, Sweet hit a fastball from Carlos Farias for a 3-run home run. The Fightin Phils, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"This was a tremendous character win for our team," said Reading manager Daniel Rapp.
