Jason Elkins, who is tied for 5th in the EL with a 9.1 K/9 rate, pitched well, but the Akron RubberDucks still fell short, losing, 4-3, to the Altoona Curve at Canal Park. Jose Oscal earned the save for Altoona, his 10th. The Curve now have a record of 78-53.

Altoona used a well-timed hit by Francisco Rivas to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Curve ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

In postgame comments to the Altoona Citizen, Rivas said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
