Josh Smith, the 20th overall pick in the 2109 draft, was locked in. The left-hander led the Trenton Thunder to a 1-0 win against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Arm & Hammer Park. Smith, now 5-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The last-place Thunder have won 4 consecutive games.

Justin White drove in one run for Trenton. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, White had a clutch at-bat. Facing New Hampshire hurler Jose Fernandez, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.
