The Altoona Curve got a superb performance from pitcher David Nisly, but the Portland Sea Dogs still won the game, 3-2. Nisly threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Adam Jones snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Jared Birdwell suffered the loss. The 5th-place Sea Dogs are 58-74.

With a runner on 1st and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, right fielder Brent Phelps delivered big for the Sea Dogs. Portland was trailing 2-0 when he belted a 2-run home run.

Afterward, Sea Dogs manager Dennis Owens was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
