RubberDucks Rally Late to Nip Flying Squirrels
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Akron RubberDucks and the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 29-year old left-handed pitcher Omar Porraz was the difference-maker. The Akron left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Matt Woods picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Danny Casas suffered the loss. The 4th-place RubberDucks have won 6 in a row.
Alex Zavala was the walk-off hero for Akron. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the RubberDucks second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Zavala said.
