Baysox Earn 6-5 Win Versus Fisher Cats
|
The Bowie Baysox had to overcome a big game from New Hampshire designated hitter Steve Porter to leave Northeast Delta Dental Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 10 innings. Porter was 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Bowie reliever Jon Yulfo picked up the win, upping his record to 6-6. Miguel Mota was saddled with the loss. With the win, the Baysox improved to 91-44.
Bowie needed the clutch hitting of Jose Rodriguez to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Baysox on top, 6-4. For the game, Rodriguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said New Hampshire manager Wilson Acevedo. "But we decided not to take it."
