IronPigs Take Down Red Sox, 8-2
|
Fans who congregated at McCoy Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.
Pawtucket got a terrific performance from pitcher Brandon Bingaman, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Lehigh Valley won the McCoy Stadium contest, 8-2. Bingaman threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Lehigh Valley reliever Kevin Kendrick picked up the win, raising his record to 1-2. Ray Lawler was tagged with the loss.
Lehigh Valley won the game in part because of Andy Jenkins. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the IronPigs ahead, 3-2. For the game, Jenkins had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
Pawtucket manager Chris Harris said his team was "out of sync."
Lehigh Valley is now 8-23. Pawtucket is 17-15.
