The Washington (Rk+) Nationals got a magnificent performance from pitcher Angelo Cervantes, who muffled the Oakland (Rk+) offense en route to a tight 2-1 Nationals win at Swine Ballpark. Andres Ruiz got credit for the save for Washington (Rk+). It was his 1st of the year. The win gives Washington (Rk+) a record of 1-1.
Mark Tackett aided the Washington (Rk+) cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop was 1-2.
Tackett said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
