In a tight game between the Eugene Emeralds and the Spokane Indians, pitcher Giuseppe Scotto was terrific on the mound. The Eugene right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. The win puts Eugene at 2-0.

The Emeralds got a big boost from second baseman Omar Hercules who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Indians hurler Fred Hartsoe. It was his 2nd RBI of the season and put Eugene on top, 2-1.

"If you ever get this game figured out," said Spokane manager Jimmy Terrell, "let me know."
