Emeralds Topple Dust Devils, 9-4, as Virgen Shines
|
Due in large part to first baseman Cesar Virgen, the Eugene Emeralds sunk the Tri-City Dust Devils, 9-4. Virgen went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Tri-City falls to 0-3.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Emeralds grabbed the lead when Virgen hit his 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Jim Unknown made it 7-4, Eugene.
"We took home the win," said Virgen. "What's not to like?"
