The Seattle (Rk+) Mariners defeated the Grand Junction Rockies, 5-0, in Pioneer League action at Ballpark of Sammamish. Seattle (Rk+) pitcher Branden McDonald had a standout performance. The win moves Seattle (Rk+) to a record of 4-4.

The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old McDonald. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Mariners. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Rockies, striking out 9 and scattering 1 hit over 6.2 innings. McDonald is now 1-0 on the season.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said McDonald. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
