The Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds picked up a win at Volcanoes Stadium, knocking off the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 3-2. Starting pitcher Manny Reynoso played a key role in the triumph. Reynoso, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Earning his 2nd save for Cincinnati (SS-A) was Bobby Suter.

Cincinnati (SS-A) used a well-timed hit by Steve Sickle to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Reds ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Reynoso.
