Brewers Lose Late to Hops
|
The Milwaukee (SS-A) Brewers got a whale of a performance from pitcher Jake Melton, but the Hillsboro Hops still prevailed, 5-3, in 10 innings. Melton threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The win belonged to Adrian Castro in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Rafael Alcantara took the loss for Milwaukee (SS-A). Dan Rainwater closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Hillsboro used a timely hit from Kenichi Ishizaki to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hops ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Ishizaki. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
The loss puts Milwaukee (SS-A) at 4-2.
