Mike Smith brought his A-game to help Texas (Rk+) defeat the Chicago (Rk+) Cubs, 4-1. Scott Haney earned the save for Texas (Rk+), his 1st of the year. The second-place Rangers now sit at 10-6.

Sam Stewart was 1-3 with a triple and a walk for Texas (Rk+). The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jaden Moore. It was his 2nd walk of the season.

"Mike kept them off-balance, threw a great game for us," said Rangers manager Jimmy Terrell.
