Portland Downs Seattle (Rk+), 4-1
|
The Portland Tigers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Dan Hayes. The left-hander kept the Seattle (Rk+) offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Portland victory at Hackers Ballpark. Hayes, now 1-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Portland, with the win, climbs to 6-13.
Shortstop Jon Everett made an impact for Portland, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off John Sanborn in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Everett was 2-3 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Hayes.
