Pawtucket starter Mike Sherwood put the Lehigh Valley offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his slider in leading the Red Sox to a 5-0 win. The last-place Red Sox bumped their record to 13-22.

Sherwood made it look easy. He scattered 5 hits over 8.1 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The right-hander upped his season record to 1-4.

"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Sherwood.
