Portland beat Washington (Rk+) at Hackers Ballpark, eking out a 4-3 win. The triumph was primarily due to second baseman Steve Wray. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. Dan Brown snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Michael Urbanski suffered the loss. Portland's record now stands at 23-10, placing them second in the South.

The decisive blow was delivered by Chris Snider in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 21-year old left-handed pitcher Michael Urbanski to win the game for Portland. The home crowd went nuts.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Snider said.
