8 Straight Wins for Hops
|
Melaleuca Field was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Hillsboro Hops went home winners at Melaleuca Field, thanks in large part to starter Matt Tucker. Tucker stifled the Kansas City (SS-A) Royals, enabling Hillsboro to grab the 2-1 win. Matt Hart recorded the save, his 2nd.
Hillsboro used the timely hitting of Bobby Chase to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hops on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Runs were at a premium," said Hillsboro manager .
Kansas City (SS-A) falls to 4-4.
