Rockies Win in Extras, 5-3
|
The Grand Junction Rockies defeated the Washington (Rk+) Nationals, 5-3, in 10 innings in Pioneer League action at Swine Ballpark. Grand Junction pitcher Filipe Rabaa had a standout performance. Johnny Trujillo closed the door for Grand Junction, picking up his 2nd save of the year. The win gives Grand Junction a season record of 11-10.
Grand Junction used the timely hitting of Raul Mendoza Jr. to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Rockies on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Filipe is one tough son of a gun," said Grand Junction manager Nick Hatfield.
