Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Portland Tigers and Orem Owlz.

The Portland Tigers withstood an impressive performance by Orem first baseman Jon Kren to defeat the Owlz, 6-5, at Brent Brown Ballpark. Kren was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. At 8-16, the Tigers claim last place in the South.

Portland used the timely hitting of Mark Cimino to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Cimino expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
