Tight Tilt Goes to Nationals, 4-3
|
Philadelphia (Rk+) third baseman Lionel Friuli had a good game, even if his team did not. The Phillies dropped a 4-3 decision to Washington (Rk+) at Swine Ballpark. Friuli went 1-1 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Washington (Rk+) pitcher Johnny Bermudez got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ruben Batres got the loss. The last-place Nationals sport a record of 5-24.
In the bottom of the fifth, Washington (Rk+) left fielder Corey Daffron had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, Daffron stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 4-3, Washington (Rk+). For the game, he was 3-4 with 3 singles.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Daffron told the Washington (Rk+) Observer.
