Portland Gets Another L
|
The Reading Fightin Phils picked up a win at FirstEnergy Stadium, topping the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-4. On the mound for Reading was right-hander Miles Lane. He played a principal role in the triumph. Lane, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 4 runs. The Fightin Phils, now 8-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
Juan Gutierrez had a big 2-run home run for the Fightin Phils in the bottom of the first inning. With Reading trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Shearer and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Fightin Phils on top, 2-1.
"Miles knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Reading manager Daniel Rapp.
