Braves Rack Up 7-2 Win Versus Birmingham
|
Not everyone stuck through the 68-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The Mississippi Braves locked up a win at Trustmark Park, knocking off the Birmingham Barons, 7-2. On the mound for Mississippi was right-hander Jose Jasso. He played a major role in the triumph. Jasso yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1. Gregorio de Leon closed the door for Mississippi, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Matt Acord had a big bases-clearing double for the Braves in the bottom of the second inning. With Mississippi leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Alejandro Comparan and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 4-0.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Jasso.
The last-place Braves now sit at 16-31.
