|
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos got a magnificent performance from pitcher Sandy Encarnacion, who muffled the Montgomery offense en route to a tight 3-1 Blue Wahoos win at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. Encarnacion got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. Encarnacion allowed 1 run. With the win, Pensacola raised its record to 36-27.
Mike Besaw provided a timely hit. The Pensacola right fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Wahoos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
Afterward, Blue Wahoos manager George Caton was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
