RubberDucks Drop Sea Dogs, 2-1
|
In a tight game between the Akron RubberDucks and the Portland Sea Dogs, pitcher Sam Selby was terrific on the mound. The Akron right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. Mike Overholser earned the save for Akron, his 1st. Portland drops to 3-8.
The RubberDucks got a big at-bat from third baseman Francis van Mook. For the game, van Mook was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Akron a 2-0 lead.
"Good ballgame," said Portland manager Dennis Owens. "But we came up on the short end."
