The 2108 season did not get off to quite the start the Clinton LumberKings had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Burlington Bees at Ashford University Field. The final score was 8-6. Second Baseman Francisco Galdamez was the top performer for Burlington. David Ferber stitched up the save, his 1st.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Galdamez hit a grand slam home run off Mike England. It propelled the Bees into the lead, 7-3.

"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Galdamez told the Burlington Daily.
