The Frisco RoughRiders did just enough to sneak past the Springfield Cardinals, 7-6, at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. Frisco center fielder Hermenegildo Valbom, in particular, had a standout performance. Jose Velazquez, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 4 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The loss drops Springfield to 0-2.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Frisco. That's when Conor Conley hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Delgado to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"It's great when the crowd is energized," Valbom said.
