RoughRiders Fall to Cardinals Late

The Frisco RoughRiders got a superb performance from pitcher Tyler Gaskins, but the Springfield Cardinals still won the game, 4-2. Gaskins threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Matt Helsen, now 3-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Frisco, with the loss, is 4-3.
Springfield went in front, 4-2, on Pat Ingles's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Ingles hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Frisco pitcher Steve Dixon visibly perturbed.
Frisco manager Carlos Mercado said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
