|
Springfield Cardinals starter Pedro Salazar pitched well against the Tulsa Drillers at Hammons Field, leading his team to a win, 5-2. Salazar, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Alejandro Reyes, number 1 for him.
Springfield right fielder Mike Scarborough contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 5-2.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Scarborough said after the game.
The Cardinals raised their record to 6-17.
