The Springfield Cardinals picked up a win at ONEOK Field, knocking off the Tulsa Drillers, 8-3. Starting pitcher Luis Ruiz was a big reason why. Ruiz got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The victory makes Springfield 10-14.

Springfield designated hitter Mike Lawlor contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 14th hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 5-0.
