Beard Hammers 2 Homers in 5-4 Win
In a close game at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium, the San Antonio Missions edged the Frisco RoughRiders, 5-4. San Antonio center fielder Andrew Beard stood apart with his performance. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. George Phillips got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 2.2 innings. Tyler Allen sewed up the save, his 11th.

Beard had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 sinker from Jim Reich, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Missions a 5-2 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Beard.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Frisco manager Carlos Mercado. "But we decided not to take it."

San Antonio has won 4 straight games.
