Bellows Leads Frisco Past Corpus Christi
|
Dr. Pepper Ballpark featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Mike Bellows, who is rated as the 84th best prospect by BNN, was locked in. The right-hander led the Frisco RoughRiders to a 1-0 win against the Corpus Christi Hooks at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. Butch Wheelock earned the save, his 2nd.
Bellows, who dominated for Frisco, earned the victory to move to 2-2. He was in control the whole game, scattering 1 hit over 7 innings, while striking out 4. Corpus Christi batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"I thought Mike threw the ball well across the board," said Frisco manager Carlos Mercado.
The third-place Hooks now sit at 18-20.
