Cardinals Beat Travelers, 8-2
|
The Springfield Cardinals topped the Arkansas Travelers, 8-2, in Texas League action at Hammons Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Springfield pitcher Juan Villagomez. Villagomez got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. Villagomez allowed 2 runs. With the win over Arkansas, the Cardinals improved to 14-25.
Jeremy Littlefield, the Springfield right fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 3-1, Cardinals. For the game, Littlefield went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Littlefield told the Springfield Times.
