Northwest Arkansas Loses, 4-3, to Frisco in 12
|
The Frisco RoughRiders picked up a win at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, downing the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 4-3, in 12 innings. On the mound for Frisco was right-hander Carlos Villa, who played a pivotal role in the win. Frisco reliever Tony Lopez picked up the win to move to 1-0. Arturo Valverde suffered the loss. The RoughRiders, at 23-31, sit in third place in the South Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Frisco left fielder Carlos Cruz, facing Arturo Valverde, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the RoughRiders the 4-3 win.
After the game, Frisco manager Carlos Mercado applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
