Win Makes Missions 33-22
|
The first-place San Antonio Missions took on the Springfield Cardinals in front of a spirited crowd.
The San Antonio Missions beat the Springfield Cardinals, 7-1, at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Jose Nunez was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The 25-year old right fielder was a menace to Springfield all day. Reliever Donny Katz picked up the win. His record improves to 3-3. Brian Pitts took the loss.
Early in the game, Nunez had a 2-run home run for San Antonio. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Missions on top, 2-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said San Antonio skipper David Medina.
San Antonio is first in the South Division with a record of 33-22.
