Not everyone stuck through the 41-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

A good performance from shortstop Mario Alvarado helped the Corpus Christi Hooks defeat the Midland RockHounds, 5-2. Alvarado was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Hooks. The winning pitcher was Jeremy George. His record now stands at 7-3. The left-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits for the Hooks.

Corpus Christi took a 3-1 lead on Alvarado's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Wade Ray in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Corpus Christi to the win.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Corpus Christi skipper Ka-fei Ong.

The 'W' lifts Corpus Christi's record to 33-25.
