RockHounds Victorious at San Antonio, 7-4
|
Though he had a stellar game, Mike Sanchez could not prevent his team, the San Antonio Missions, from losing, 7-4, to the Midland RockHounds. Sanchez hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Alan Ziemer got the win, improving to 5-5. He held the Missions to 3 runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The last-place RockHounds now have a record of 24-39.
The RockHounds got a big at-bat from left fielder Garland Wear. For the game, Wear went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Midland a 3-0 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Wear.
