Cardinals Need Extra Innings to Top Naturals, 9-8
The Springfield Cardinals clipped the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 9-8, in 10 innings at Hammons Field. The standout performance belonged to Springfield pitcher and Villa de Cura, Venezuela, native Carlos Romero. The win went to Matt Helsen in relief, making him now 4-5. David Thibeaux took the loss for Northwest Arkansas. The Cardinals, at 38-32, sit in second place in the North Division.

The Cardinals relied on left fielder Mike Coffin for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"Good hitters want to be the ones taking those big at-bats," said Coffin.
