Hooks Use Late Surge to Win
The Corpus Christi Hooks and Frisco RoughRiders duked it out at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

The Corpus Christi Hooks racked up a win at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, bumping off the Frisco RoughRiders, 4-2, in 10 innings. Manny Storm, who started for Corpus Christi, pitched effectively for his team. Jim Grangroth claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 5-6. Cory Gonzalez picked up his 1st save of the season.

Corpus Christi used a timely hit from Mario Alvarado to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hooks ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"We own our own mistakes," Storm told a reporter after the game. "But we share our victories."

The second-place Hooks improved to 39-31.
