Midland Absorbs 4-3 Loss to San Antonio
|
San Antonio took on Midland in front of a lively crowd.
San Antonio pitcher Ken Miller did his part in helping his team beat the Midland RockHounds, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. San Antonio reliever Rich Mowdy picked up the win to move to 3-2. Omar Porraz suffered the loss. German Padron earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
Kurt Jones went 1 for 3, while adding 3 RBI for San Antonio. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jon Fenton. It was his 42nd RBI of the season.
Midland manager Tony Gonzalez said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
San Antonio is first in the South Division with a record of 47-23.
