Missions Beat Travelers, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the San Antonio Missions and the Arkansas Travelers, Miguel Espinoza was the difference-maker. The San Antonio left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Espinoza got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Espinoza allowed 1 run. Jacob Magaw converted his 16th save in 20 tries.
The Travelers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Missions going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop John Ballard came to the plate. Ballard hit a run-scoring double on a 0-2 curveball from Arkansas hurler Taylor Tindall. It was Ballard's 6th double of the year.
"Winning never gets old," said Espinoza.
The first-place Missions are 49-36.
