Cardinals Handed 4-1 Loss by Missions
|
San Antonio pitcher Bobby Rettig did his part in helping his team beat the Springfield Cardinals, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. German Padron earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. The Missions lead the South Division by 16 games.
The Missions got a big at-bat from second baseman Ben Cooke. For the game, Cooke was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave San Antonio a 4-1 lead.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said San Antonio skipper Elijah Chalmers.
