Hooks Earn Late Win
In a low-scoring game between Corpus Christi and Midland, pitcher Mike Gardner was excellent. The Corpus Christi right-hander helped his team knock off the RockHounds, 2-1. Jim Grangroth, now 8-7, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Corpus Christi goes to 53-40, Midland to 35-58.

Josh Whittington was the walk-off hero for Corpus Christi. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Hooks shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

In postgame remarks, Whittington said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
