Midland pitcher Alex Cruz had a large part in his team subduing the Corpus Christi Hooks, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Cruz got the win, improving to 5-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Midland is now 48-48.

The RockHounds got a big hit from right fielder Mario Bustos. Facing Corpus Christi pitcher Christian Peraza in the top of the sixth, Bustos pounded a 2-run triple to right. His 1st triple of the season put the RockHounds ahead, 3-0.
