Missions Squelch RockHounds Offense in Shutout Win
The first-place San Antonio Missions took on the Midland RockHounds in front of a spirited crowd.

The San Antonio Missions got a marvelous performance from pitcher Jose Perez. The right-hander kept the Midland offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 6-0 San Antonio victory at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Perez, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.

Amaro Alfarela chipped in a grand slam home run for San Antonio in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.

Said losing manager : "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."

The first-place Missions, at 60-40, lead the South Division by 11 games.
