Springfield Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Beckett
Despite a fine performance by third baseman Terry Beckett, the Springfield Cardinals lost to the Arkansas Travelers, 8-7. Beckett slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Tony Morones earned the save for Arkansas, his 4th of the year. The 'W' lifts Arkansas's record to 46-55.

Steve Edwards had a big 2-run double for the Travelers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Arkansas trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Paulino Aldana and swatted a double to right. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Travelers ahead, 4-3.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Mario Serrano.
