The Springfield Cardinals topped the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 5-2, in Texas League action at Arvest Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Springfield pitcher and Villa de Cura, Venezuela, native Carlos Romero. Matt Helsen earned the save for Springfield, his 20th. The second-place Cardinals hiked their record to 58-49.

Springfield relied on the hitting of Jon Kunkel to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 4-2. For the game, Kunkel had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Springfield manager Tom King.
